Summary
Roger Brewer with the Department of Health will present information about updates to the Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response (HEER) Office Technical Guidance Manual.
Sections of the HEER office TGM that discuss Soil Vapor Sampling (Section 7), target analytes for petroleum and pesticides (Section 9), and issues related to Environmental Hazard Evaluations and EALs (Section 13) were updated in March of this year including expansion of recommended field protocols for the collection of soil vapor samples, revision of target pesticides for former agricultural fields, and updating of EALs using results of a study on the role of TPH in petroleum vapor intrusion. These updates incorporate experience gained on these topics since the initial publication of the guidance in 2009. The approach developed was recently published in an international environmental journal.
Updates planned for later this year include guidance for DU-MIS investigations (Sections 3-5), groundwater sampling and monitoring well installation and abandonment (Section 6) and field screening methodologies (Section 8), among updates to several other sections.
