Summary:
Mr. Andrew Tang will offer a stimulating and entertaining talk about a topic of critical importance in design today:  How do we make our public and private spaces more resilient?

This presentation examines some of the "strategies" in resiliency planning and design of our public realm in order to address climate change while not losing sight of supporting healthy communities and place making.  Drawing from personal work experience and examples of water management in The Netherlands and elsewhere, Andrew hopes to raise awareness and encourage more engagement and conversation on the vital need to create a more resilient and beautiful Hawaii.  One example he will explore is opportunities to improve Ala Wai Canal.

Speaker Biography:
After receiving his architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Andrew Y.K. Tang practiced with prominent firms in The Netherlands for nearly 20 years. He has contributed to a wide range of international projects including strategic urban master plans, civic and cultural buildings, and resilient public space design.
